New Thomastown Recreation Reserve Visit

Last term on Wednesday the 29th of March, Mr G, Osama and I (Gurleen) went to the Recreational Reserve behind the Thomastown Library to have some photos taken of us to be put in the Leader newspaper. This visit was an induction to the new play space being built in Thomastown.

I would like to thank everyone who has given me this opportunity to be part of this process and Mr G for inviting us to the play space that’s under construction. Last year we spent a day with the council planners to plan the play space and to include what we wanted there.

We were not the only ones there, there were also four other students from two different schools. They came from Thomastown West Primary and Thomastown Secondary College. There were also the builders, the staff, members of the council and the photographer who took photos for the Leader newspaper. They all took lots of photos of us. The builders also told us where they were going to put the equipment and we  also discussed with the builders potential construction problems.

They’re going to build a big play space with lots of play equipment. The things that they are going to be including are: a basket swing, flying fox, spinning dish, climbing frame with a tube slide, double embankment slide, swings, four-way spring rocker, in ground trampoline, junior play unit, gathering space, nature play area, barbeque, picnic area, basketball and netball courts, exercise equipment and art elements. It is going to be a huge play area. We are looking forward to taking the grades there once it is finished. We enjoyed our time there. We are also going to go there again during term 2. The play space should be finished by the end of May.

Thank you,

Osama & Gurleen
